BRIE

Meet Brie. Brie is a 17 month old female Brindlequin approximately 31" tall. She and her sister found their way into rescue when the family was unable to care for them.

Brie had been isolated, since 7 weeks of age, and never learned how to be a dog or have the opportunity for socialization. With this being said, she still has so much fear instilled in her mostly when it comes to men. The foster home has been working diligently with her to de-sensitize her from this behavior however she will require a lot of continued time and patience in order to work towards overcoming her fears.

She had slowly adjusted to her new environment, playing with the other dogs and toys and being introduced to the outside world. Once she trusts you, she gives back 110% in sweetness and love. She is learning about manners, boundaries, obedience and socialization.

Because of her fearful issues with men, she will not only require a Dane savvy home that is willing to be patient and continue to work with her but will also require a commitment of obedience training, with a certified trainer, as a condition of her adoption..

She is living with 3 other Danes (male and female) and a Jack Russell in the foster home and loves to romp and play with them. She has just recently become reactive with the Jack Russell in the foster home and is now being separated from him to prevent possible issues. Brie has no history with cats and has had limited exposure to children in her previous home. Due to her exuberance, she may be too much for younger children so older children over the age of 8 will only be considered.

Brie is a sweetheart who deserves a chance at happiness. She will need a loving home to help her come out of her shell more and learn to trust those she fears most. She is worth the work as her unconditional love is never ending.

Brie came to MAGDRL in April of 2010.

Special requirements: Kids 8 and up only; cats unknown; large dogs only; obedience training required.

Update 6/29: Brie has been with her foster family for about 3 months now. While she is getting used to her foster dad, she still has her moments of fleeing and barking if startled or approached unexpectedly. She will approach for attention and affection at times but usually prefers her foster mom.

Brie continues to learn more and more each and every day with the boundaries and manners which are being expected of her. Brie has picked up a bit of her commands and knows sit, off, no and down like a champ. She is very food motivated and is eager to please but due to her attention span, or lack of, she needs repeated direction and consistancy.

Brie loves to go for walks and car rides and does very well on the leash, loving to see and explore new things. She is completely housebroken thus knowing to go to the door when she has to go out and will even potty on command. She also loves her crate and never gives a fuss to go in; even knowing the routine so well, she'll go right in when it's time for bed or when we're leaving the house. Brie loves to drag her bedding out of the crate and bring it into which ever room she wishes to lay down in, it is quite a sight and makes her foster mom laugh everyday! She loves her Dane brothers and sister and will even lay outside on the deck or ground snuggling with her foster sister. Her stuffies are her favorite thing and she will walk around the house and yard with any given one wagging her tail.

Brie is still very exuberant but has settled in enough to go play or lay down on her own without the other dogs in the house. Another active large breed or Dane would be best suited for her as she does love the companionship and rough housing.

Brie has jumped over the 4' gate in the foster home and will require a 5 or 6' fence in her forever home to safely contain her. Brie has come such a long way in the time with her foster family however she will need to be moved to another foster home as she requires more time, training and socialization then they are able to currently provide for her.

Brie will continue to blossom and with the right tools will be even more wonderful then she already is!!
