BUDDA

Budda is not available for adoption at this time.

Budda is a 10 yr old fawn mantle male who is missing his left eye and who at this distinquished time of his life has found himself back in rescue again. He didn't deserve this fate as he was an orphan just 4 short years ago. But his adopter has fallen upon hard times and can no longer keep him. Our hearts are breaking for him. Budda is good with children and cats and needs slow introductions to easy going canines. He is one sweet old gentleman who just needs a quiet home where he can sleep all day and live out whatever time he has left in comfort and peace. Please contact us if you are willing to give this lovely old fella his final forever home. Budda came to MAGDRL in May 2008

Update 7/24: Sadly, Budda is not going to be available for adoption at this time.

Budda is starting to fail some and has suffered severe weakness in his hind end as well as having a great loss in appetite. He has been slowly losing weight and having a more difficult time getting around, despite the pain medication and exercise he is provided with. He is happy, sweet and playful with the other Dane in the foster home. He does tip over and fall down and sometimes has a hard time getting up. He is still living a nice life, but has declined significantly and we will have to take it day by day.

We have decided it is in Budda's best interest to stay in his foster home permanently. He is so very loved, cared for and is very well adjusted. Moving him to new surroundings at this time would be too much for him and from the pace in which he has declined, it may not be too long before a sad decision has to be made. Budda's foster family loves him very much and they are happy to have him stay with them for the rest of his days. They are aware of the sadness that is ahead of them all and they are trying to prepare emotionally. His foster mom will have to gauge the good vs the bad days, and is willing to do so. She will keep his best interest at heart and let him go with grace and dignity when the time comes.

Budda is a very special Dane who has touched so many people since coming back into MAGDRL. You can not help but falling in love with him just hearing his story, let alone meeting him and just seeing and feeling his spirit. Please keep Budda in your thoughts and prayers... and his wonderful foster family too, for loving and caring for him for all his days.

HONEY

Honey is a beautiful 2½ year old Fawn female with natural ears. She has suffered some loss in her short life, and due to the passing of 2 of her family members, she has found her way to rescue.

Honey is living with a 1 year old male Dane in her foster home and just loves having a playmate. We have discovered however that she is not good with cats. Upon entering rescue Honey was extremely timid, but has quickly come out of her shell. She is actively meeting and greeting people when out and about with her foster mom and is just loving her new found confidence. Honey does startle with loud noises and sometimes with quick moving objects and because of this may be best suited for a family with kids aged 12 years and over.

Honey is 100% trustworthy in the house, loves car rides, is great on a leash and is just a total cuddle bug. She is quite talkative and grumbles and rumbles at you for attention, or anything else she wants. She has not yet warmed up to the idea of toys but loves running around the yard with her housemate, playing tag. She is a total love and complete velcro Dane, following her foster family everywhere they go. She deserves a wonderful family to call her own, Could that be you?? Honey came to MAGDRL in May 2008

Special requirements: Kids 12 and up only; not good with cats or small dogs.

BOGART

Bogart is a handsome 3 year old Fawn male with natural ears who stands 33" at the shoulder and weighs approximately 125 lbs. Bogart was picked up as a stray by a shelter, and when no one ever stepped up and claimed him, they contacted MAGDRL.

Bogart is being fostered with 2 other Danes (both male and female) and has tested well with all dogs, big and small. Though he is living with a cat in his foster home, they are yet to come into contact, so for now, cats are still unknown. We have no history of Bogart with children prior to his time in rescue, but he is wonderful, gentle and loving with all the kids he has met and played with. Bogart is a very loving and energetic Dane who would prefer to be glued to your side then anywhere else in the world!! Oddly Bogart is not a big fan of the outdoors and seems very unsettled when outside. He would much rather be inside lounging on a couch somewhere with his foster mom or house mates. He did initially have some issues with crating however it has come to be known that Bogart just doesn't like to be alone. As long as he has a canine companion to keep him company, he will go or stay anywhere without issue! Due to this, Bogart's adoption will require a canine companion in his new home.

Bogart has few manners and will require a home who will continue to instill structure and training into his life. He so enjoys counter surfing and trash can hunting, but his foster moms are working diligently on changing his habits. Lucky for Bogart, he is adorable!!! He is responding wonderfully to the training and has already picked up a few commands as well. Bogart is ready for a forever home to call his own... Bogart came to MAGDRL in May 2008.

Special requirements: Cats unknown; canine companion required; obedience training required.

WESLEY

Wesley is a handsome 7 yr old neutered male fawn Dane with cropped and standing ears. Wesley was given up because his owner fell upon difficult financial times and could no longer afford to care for him. Wesley is a sweet, laid back, typical gentle giant. He wants nothing more than some affection and a soft bed to lie on where he can be near you. He is wonderful with all people and children and gets along great with the male Danes and female toy breed in his foster home. Wesley has lived with a cat in his previous home.

He is totally houseworthy and does not need to be confined. He has been obedience trained and though a bit rusty, knows his basic commands. He also walks beautifully on a leash and travels well in a car. Wesley needed to have some lesions removed from his belly and legs but was a bit overweight and needed to lose some lbs before having anesthesia. He has taken off some wt with some diligence on the part of his foster home and is scheduled to have this surgery mid July. Once he recovers he will be available for adoption.

Wesley does seek canine companionship so we would like to see him adopted to a family who can provide that for him. This is a wonderful boy and we hope his age won't sway you from giving him a forever home, he is worth any amount of time you will have with him. Wesely came to MAGDRL in May of 2008.
