PROFILE:
Good with kids 10 years old and older
Not good with small dogs
Molly is a 4 and a half yr old mismarked mantle merle spayed female who has returned to MAGDRL after two incidents in her adoptive home. One incident was with a small child, one with a small dog. So therefore, Molly will not be placed with small children or small dogs. She is doing wonderfully in her current foster home with both the male and female Dane there and her foster family adores her. Molly does lack confidence and needs a strong leader. We will be very selective in placing Molly in her next home, we want to be sure her next home is truly forever. She is crate and housetrained and travels well in the car. She does pull on the leash and could use some work with her leash manners. She is an absolute gem for the right home, a perfect addition for any Dane savvy family.
Molly is doing well in her foster home. She did test positive for Lyme's disease and has now completed a full course (one month) of antibiotics. She is getting Nupro, extra glucosamine and chondroitin and salmon oil supplements in her food. She is a great eater. If overfed, she will definitely overeat, so whoever adopts her will need to be careful of that. Right now she is on Grain Free Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream and doing well on that. Molly gets along great with the Danes in the foster home, however she has let the young Dane know when she plays too rough and she let her have it on a couple of occasions. The young Dane was asking for it so Molly cannot be faulted. Since she has given her a couple of gashes and scrapes, they are no longer allowed out to run together. The young Dane hits on her too hard and it causes her pain. That's not fair to Molly. But in the house they are fine so it's easy to manage. The foster home has tried leaving Molly out of the crate on a few occasions when gone for a short period. Sometimes she's fine, other times she finds trouble. Everything needs to be put away (any food or treats) and if so, she is fine. Molly is a love and so affectionate, very submissive for the most part, and so laid back with a fairly low energy level. She needs a home who will understand her needs, she will do best with a laid back companion, she does not like to be left alone. A younger active canine would be too much for her. She is doing fine in her foster home and will stay there until that right home comes along. They love her!
Note: We have evaluated these dogs to our best abilities. MAGDRL and its volunteers can not be held responsibile for any inaccuracies or omissions in dog evaluations. A dog may react differently in each situation.
