Introducing Noel..........well, Noel is already quite the celebrity, as she has been thru a lot! Noel was discovered by a hunter, having been shot by someone else and left to die in the woods. The hunter reported her to Animal Control, who contacted MAGDRL. MAGDRL brought her into our care, and frankly, it's amazing with all she has had to deal with. Noel is a fighter, and is finally getting ready for her forever family!! Noel's radius was shattered by the bullet, and she sported a cast for a month. Her foster family cleaned and medicated her bullet wound daily until it finally closed in mid-January. Noel also had pyrometra, and was finally spayed. Noel has cherry eye, and exotropian of both eyes which was surgically corrected with her spay. Her eyes may just need daily cleaning, and a little lubricant. MAGDRL has incurred a lot of expense getting Noel ready for her adoption day, and we thank everyone who donated to the Dane in Need fund to help get her to this stage of her recovery!
Noel has been abused, and will require an extremely understanding family. While she adores children, she will need a more quiet household to call her own, and a savvy family with gobs of patience. Noel has improved with her interactions with men, but, isn't great with them. With time, love and patience, she will come around. Noel currently lives with two male danes, but has met a few female dogs, and is great with all dogs of any size. She also has interacted with a cat, and doesn't bother them. Noel does not counter surf, nor does she have any issue with resource guarding. Due to Noel's leg healing, Noel is not crate trained. She has been given free roam of the home, and is generally good as long as she is exercised before her foster parents leave her. She has not been left for long periods of time.
Noel really wants to trust and love, but due to her turbulent past, it is really hard for her to trust people. Once she chooses "her person" Noel is a true velcro dane. You barely know she is in the home, as she just lays on her dog bed, generally in the room "her person" is in. Her foster mom works from home, and Noel does not bark, nor make noise of any kind. She just keeps me company, and is happy to do it. Noel came into the MAGDRL system not being housebroken. As long as you maintain a good schedule with her, she doesn't have any accidents in the house. Noel loves living inside a home, and being a part of a loving family. She adores attention, especially from her special chosen person, and lets you know she is so thankful for everything done for her. Noel is excellent in the car, and is always ready to be included anywhere her family might go. Due to her leg condition, Noel has only ridden in a car that was low to the ground. She would need to be taught to jump in an SUV if this is what her forever family has.
We do not know Noel's age, but she does like to run and play in a fenced yard like a younger dog. She does like to play with my older male dane, as he is more gentle with her than my younger male dane. She also plays well just romping in the yard by herself. Noel is afraid of doors and confined spaces, therefore, she will need a family committed to having plenty of patience to deal with her fears. The foster home has worked hard on this issue, and there has been a lot of improvement in the 6 weeks we have had her, but more improvement is needed. Noel LOVES toys, and is so grateful to have some. When she is insecure, she will gather all her toys up and lay them in mass near her for security. Noel is a slipper thief, and will steal them if you will them out. She seems to love to chew the backs of them too. We left her for a dinner out, and returned to find her with a pile of 5 toys near her bed, a slipper on the toy pile, and 2 slippers on her bed. She also loves to remove the squeakers out of toys, and is very adept at it.
Noel came to MAGDRL in Dec 2011. Noel is a lover and a fighter, and I know there is someone out there ready to give her the love and patience she needs in her forever home. Noel will reward whomever adopts her greatly.

Note: We have evaluated these dogs to our best abilities. MAGDRL and its volunteers can not be held responsibile for any inaccuracies or omissions in dog evaluations. A dog may react differently in each situation.
