Great Dane/Mastiff "Hooch" needs your help!

Hooch, an abused and neglected Great Dane/Neo-Mastiff mix was picked up by volunteers of the not-for-profit Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League in NJ back in June 2003. Estimated to be approximately 7 months old at the time, he was extremely emaciated, completely covered in mange, and had open sores over his entire hairless body, as well as ear and eye infections. Volunteers were shocked to see the horrific condition of this poor animal.

The veterinarian did not believe he would survive due to his poor condition, but amazingly, within a few weeks of supplements, antibiotics, mange treatments, and TLC, Hooch began to improve. By December 10th his weight had increased to 145 lbs, he was almost mange-free, and his hair had started growing all over! The volunteer fostering Hooch had integrated him with her other Great Dane and he became a happy Gentle Giant, and was prepared to put him up for adoption.

A few days later, Hooch started limping and was taken back to the vet, where he was diagnosed with Wobblers, a serious and disabling neurological disorder. Mange is retaking his system due to stress. The only possibility for recovery is a specialized treatment with gold bead implant surgery placed in acupuncture points, to be performed by a veterinarian in Pennsylvania. Hooch will also be receiving chiropractic manipulations as well as treatment for mange. Once the mange is under control, the gold bead implants will be surgically placed in him. Treatment is expensive, and MAGDRL needs your help.
